Following its premiere at the Mets in Amsterdam, Cristec will be offering a new hydrogenerator from April. The technology, which originally comes from ocean sports, is well suited to tackling the latent energy problem on racing and blue water yachts. A rotary blade propeller is lowered into the water at the transom. The water flowing past sets the propeller in motion and thus generates energy for the on-board power supply via a three-phase alternator.
The new generator from Cristec has a charging power of 500 watts and comes in a set with a multi-compatible charge controller. The rotary blade propeller is directly energised and enables an output of 50 watts from a speed of 3.8 knots. The full charging power of 500 watts is already available from 7.5 knots. This makes the Cristec hydrogenerator a useful addition to the energy budget, even when cruising. Two versions of the generator are available; the customer can choose between 12 volts/40 amps and 24 volts/20 amps. The price is 4635 euros including 19 per cent VAT.
